Compliance, monitoring of funeral undertakers, mortuaries, embalmers, crematoria, graves and cemeteries and to manage, control and monitor exhumations and reburial or disposal of human remains.

This function refers to:

• The monitoring and certification of:
  • Undertakers and embalmers
  • Mortuaries and other places
  • Facilities for storing corpses/remains 
  • Treatments, removal or transport of corpses
• Monitoring of cemeteries, crematoriums and other facilities for the disposal of corpses.
• Monitoring and supervision of exhumations and re-interments.
• Municipal Health Services is only responsible for pauper burials in the District Managerial area.
