Executive Director: Engineering and Infrastructure
Dries Van Taak was born in Namibia and matriculated at Karasburg High School. In 1977 he received his B. Eng. (Civil) degree at the University of Stellenbosch. He is also registered as Professional Engineer at ECSA. He started his career in 1978 at the Department of Transport in Namibia were he was employed for 8 years. He spent 4 years at the Windhoek Muncipality. In 1990 he started at the Western Cape District Council (now Cape Winelands District Municipality). He served the Cape Winelands District Municipality as the Executive Director Engineering and Infrastructure for the past 5 years. One of the Municipality’s achievements through Dries’ department has been that of the Lanquedoc housing project chosen as the best in the country.
Besides his family, he views his personnel as his most important asset. He strive towards building on a goal oriented effective Department that work towards improving the quality of life for the people in the district.
Dries is married and has 3 sons.
