Mr. Mike Mgajo: Municipal Manager

Mr.Mike Mgajo was born in Mbekweni Paarl and studied there for his Primary and Secondary education. Mr.Mgajo was a Mayor of Paarl Municipality for many years and was subsequently elected Mayor of the Cape Winelands District Municipality. He served a short period in this position as he was also teaching at Mbekweni Higher Primary School where he was also part of management.

The new Municipal Manager has got a long history of political activism and leadership. He served as the Boland Regional Chairperson of the ANC and was also part of its Provincial Executive Committee.

Mr.Mgajo started at the Cape Winelands District Municipality on the 1st of September 2003 as Director of IDP and Strategic Services. He subsequently acted as Executive Director: Community and Developmental services for a couple of months. He was then appointed as a Municipal Manager in September 2007. He is furthering his studies in Developmental Local Government.
