Coronavirus/COVID
-19
The Coronavirus/COVID -19 is a respiratory illness, spread by droplets and causing symptoms like flu, i.e..: cough, fatigue and aching muscles. Sometimes the illness can develop, and complications can arise, such viral pneumonia. The elderly and those with underlying health conditions have an increased risk of contracting Coronavirus/COVID -19 which due to weakened immune systems can have fatal consequences. You can contract the coronavirus by being in direct contact with someone who has the virus or by touching items or surfaces upon which the virus filled droplets have settled. The virus then enters your body from your hands when you touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
Currently, South Africa is in a nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the virus. The CWDM has created this web page platform to update our citizens of the district with up-to-date, accurate and relevant information from verified sources.
We urge all to adhere to the regulations of the lockdown and stay home. Only leave home to buy essential goods or access health services.
If you have flu-like symptoms and or have been in contact with someone who has the coronavirus, please contact the national hotline on 0800 029 999 or the provincial hotline on 021 928 4102 for advice on what to do next.
