The Lusern Cricket Project, which was launched last year in partnership with the South African Police Services (SAPS) by the Cape Winelands Department of Rural and Social Development to promote cricket among the rural pupils of the Cape Winelands community, has received further portable cricket sets from the department.​

During the Cape Winelands District Municipality’s ‘Meet the Mayor’ Campaign, which was held on Friday, 22 October 2010 in Paarl, a request was made to the Mayor by the Simondium Health and Development Committee to grant approval for the utilisation of the Simondium Clinic, which has been standing empty for many years, to render the community services that they offer.

​On Sunday, 6 March 2011, the LoveLife purple train made its first stop in the Western Cape at Worcester, after covering twenty-four stations across the country on its social awareness campaign.

 

The train, which is known as the LoveTrain, is a LoveLife initiative that raises awareness about HIV/AIDS and substance abuse, and provides training such as computer literacy to the youth.
