Under the stewardship of Alderman Badih Chaaban, the Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) has received an unqualified audit report from the Auditor-General for the seventh consecutive year (2002/2003 to 2008/2009).

The Cape Winelands District Municipality attended the Vakantiebeurs Tourism Exhibition from 12 to 17 January 2010 in Utrecht, Holland. The rationale for attending this annual show was to represent the entire product and service spectrum of the District’s tourism offering.

On Saturday 23 January 2010, the Cape Winelands District Municipality paid for about 750 school children from around the District to attend the opening of the brand new R4.5 billion Cape Town Stadium at the inaugural match of the Cape Town Stadium Soccer Festival.

Following two months of intensive training by Gregory and Delphine Johannes, well-known food, wine and hospitality industry experts, a group of 13 people will finally receive their certificates on Tuesday, 20th October. The training came as a result of the realisation by the municipality’s tourism division that in order to maintain its high quality standards and to continue competing with the very best food and wine tourism regions of the world, the Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) needed to put its purse where its mouth is and to provide quality service training for new industry entrants.

On 19 September 2009 the Cape Winelands District Municipality in partnership with Department of Education, Love life and the Government Communication and Information Services Department (GCIS) aimed to enhance the ability of 100 youth, who are encountering development stumbling blocks, from Each B- Municipality in the District.
