Facilities Management Overview
On record, the Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) owns fixed assets comprising of buildings, plant, equipment, infrastructure, land, etc. worth millions of rands. For the CWDM, their properties are their most valuable asset, and if not properly cared for, its useful life will be drastically shortened, adversely affecting service delivery.
The function of the Facilities Management Division in the Technical Services Department is to, under the direction of the Executive Director plans, organises, implements, maintain and manages amongst others the following:
- strategic maintenance objectives [Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and the CWDM Fixed Assets Maintenance Plan],
- day-to-day operational maintenance activities,
- ad-hoc maintenance,
- preventative maintenance, and
- capital projects i.e. buildings.
Through investigation, analyses and interpretation of developmental requirements against capacity and capability of the department to accomplish short and longer term service delivery objectives.
